I know you are going through some of your toughest years yet! Junior high school is hard; everyone’s hormones are raging! This is a new experience for everyone, so no one knows how to respond or what to do with all of this or where it is all coming from (just trust that they are doing the best they know to do to protect themselves in that moment - we all need to feel safe). You and your peers are all feeling like strangers to yourselves and you are in some ways.
You no longer know yourself because your body is changing. Things you liked in your childhood are no longer acceptable to your peers, so you are no longer sure of your likes and dislikes. You are developing new likes and dislikes and at times you take on the likes and dislikes of others, even though those beliefs may not be true to you. At times you probably feel elated when someone takes on your opinion, jumps on your bandwagon or showers you with appreciation for your gifts and talents. Jr. high can feel like a stampede for acceptance.
Know this my love- this is normal! You are normal! You are immensely gifted (many artists feel a great sense of rejection). I am amazed at how you arrived to this planet fully aware and owning your gifts and talent –this is rare.
Beauty let me also tell you that there will be bad days. I’ll repeat, there WILL be bad days! So many that sometimes they may turn to months, I know – I have had my fair share! But know and remember this as you go through them – THIS TOO SHALL PASS and everything serves you, if you allow it to! Think of yourself as a Lotus flower. The sole (or soul) purpose of a Lotus flower is to bloom. You my dear, sweet girl are blooming! :)
The Buddhists see the Lotus flower as a symbol of good fortune. Em, this is you – you are abundant with gifts of love and talent. They also see it as a sign of purification, or coming into who you are. See, the Lotus flower has to push through mud and murky water in order to grow. Without this, it will not bloom. To do this, it takes time, patience and understanding (the Lotus knows it came to bloom so it rest in the knowing and simply pushes through).
We are much like the Lotus flower. The muddy days serve a purpose and have a lot to teach if we simply allow the lessons to come through. As you push through adversity, you are pushing through the mud that is helping you reach Lotus status (or achieve excellence as others might say). Welcome the lessons and embrace all that you can from them. These lessons are from a place of love and serve you well into your adulthood. They teach you to be true to yourself, speak your truth and love deeply.
I love you, my girl! Don’t forget to sing your heart out! You are beautiful and loved!
